Ray Celestin
Ray Celestin is both a crime author and screenwriter whose work often situates the classic American detective trope within the framework of the cultural underworld of American jazz and blues, fusing the lyricism of jazz literature with crime and detective narrative. Celestin describes his most recent novel, The Mobster’s Lament as a “noirish world of rainy nights, neon lights, basement jazz clubs, artist’s lofts, cronies and wise-guy detectives.” The novel has also been featured as a ‘Book of the year’ by The Times and the I Newspaper as well as The Times ‘Book of The Month in March 2019.
